What Makes the Self-Cleaning Rotary Valve Work
Upper Rotor
Made from a specially sourced 500 Brinel abrasion resistant alloy, this six-pocket, closed-ended, upper rotor with rounded pockets keeps the material flowing.
Barrel Sides
Made from specially formulated abrasion-resistant steel with a through hardness of 500 Brinell and is sourced from the U.S, helps to ensure longevity of the wear items.
Bottom Rotor
The upper rotor is matched with a lower 2-3 arm open-frame sweeper, which is perfectly timed to “sweep” out the upper rotor pockets and ensure the pocket are free from any residual material on every
Gearmotor
Only the very best gear motors are used to power Precision Valves! Each gearmotor is specifically selected to meet the throughput needs of the application!
The upper and lower rotors
are precisely synchronized via an outboard chain & gear set.
The modular design
of the valve allows for easy assembly & disassembly! Easily replace wear items during a scheduled outage and put the same valve back into operation. Component replacement allows the same valve to be rebuilt and continue operating at a high level!
Super-Tight Tolerances!
The only fully machined rotary valve in the world! PMM’s manufacturing standards allows our valves to achieve +/- 0.001” tolerance, which no other valve can come close to attaining.
Surface hardened
The internal surfaces of the barrel sides and wear plates are surface hardened for greater wear resistance.

Problem With Material Flow?Problem Solved!
- High inherent-moisture coal or coal with lots of surface moisture can be effectively handled without material build-up; useful in situations where raw coal must be stored outside or where incoming coal is carried in open-top trucks or rail cars
- For applications where metering or airlock functionality is needed at the inlet to the heated vessel with steam escapement, the PMDS can minimize complications from the steam mixing with the incoming material.
- More positive cleaning action than air assist, vibration, or other add-on features to conventional rotary valves.
