PMSE Side-Entry/Offset Rotary Valves

A long-lived offset or side-entry rotary valve designed to minimize shearing and breakage in the handling of delicate, formed, molded, granular, or pelletized materials. Functionally, PMSE valves are both a metering device and an airlock.

Common Applications

  • Silo discharge
  • Pneumatic conveying systems
  • Plastic pellets
  • Granulated minerals
  • Granulated fertilizers
  • Molded pet foods

Key Advantages

Tri-Braze barrel material and industrial hard chrome overlay in the barrel extend the life of the valve to 2-4x that of cast-iron, commodity offset valves.

Industry-best rotor-to-barrel clearance to minimize blowby (leakage) in pneumatic conveying applications or under vacuum.

Designed for slide-out/slide-in replacement of competitive offset rotary valves – often without even requiring transitions.

Problems Solved

Granulated products are not well-suited to standard rotary valves due to the high shearing action where the rotor tips meet the housing; an offset valve design minimizes damage and dust creation with these granulated products.

Conventional offset valves suffer from abrasive wearing in pneumatic conveying applications handling plastic pellets with degraded conveying performance and frequent rotary valve replacement.

How It Works

The key wear components – the rotor and the barrel sides – are manufactured of Tri-Braze abrasion-resistant steel for exceptional durability.

All seven major components in a PMV are CNC-machined to thousandth-of-an-inch tolerances for precise fit and minimal rotor-to-barrel clearance.

Bolt-together, modular design makes component replacement possible – in place, in your workshop, or at Precision’s factory.

Internal surfaces of the barrel sides and wear plates can be chrome plated or ion-nitrided to increase surface hardness and reduce wear.

Rotor diameter is machined to a +/- 0.001” tolerance prior to final assembly for the operating temperature of your material – prevents lock-up due to thermal expansion.

Heavy-duty Dodge or Timken piloted flange bearings installed outboard of the housing to isolate heat. Nord, SEW, or Sumitomo shaft-mounted gear-motor drive packages for clean, safe installations providing direct application of power with options for variable speeds and other functions.
