Precision Machine & Manufacturing has a long history of supplying rotary valves to the cement industry, but 2012 marks a milestone in conquering t he toughest challenges with the introduction of the PMCA-48 “Super” Feeder.
This high capacity unit features innovations engineered specifically for the difficulties in handling limestone and other materials to be fed into the raw mill, which is one of the most formidable material handling challenges in a cement plant. The material ranges from dust to 12″ or larger rocks; the moisture content can vary considerably depending on weather conditions if outside storage is used. There is always the possibility of some foreign material in the feed stream, and the feed rates approach or exceed 400 metric tons per hour. All against the backdrop of 24/7 operation for weeks or months at a time where feeder failure would bring clinker production to a halt.
The USA-manufactured PMCA-48 was designed to stand up to the extreme conditions in feeding cement raw materials. All of the product-contact components, including the rotor, the barrel sides, and the wear plates in the feeder and the transition are constructed of Tri-Braze Dura Plus steel. Tri-Braze is a 500-Brinell material with exceptional durability due to its consistent through-hardness, balanced chemistry, and the wear resistance of its chrome and nickel alloys. The PMCA-48 uses 1″ Tri-Braze for the rotor vanes and wear plates in the feeder transition. The barrel sides are constructed of 1 1/4″ Tri-Braze plated with .005-.007 inches of industrial hard chrome for exceptional wear-resistance.
